Our Commitment to Upholding the Ten Principles of the United Nations Global Compact
Our firm is a signatory of the Ten Principles of the United Nations Global Compact on human rights, labour, environment and anti-corruption.
These principles are derived from the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the International Labour Organization’s Declaration on Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work, the Rio Declaration on Environment and Development, and the United Nations Convention Against Corruption.
We are committed to making the UN Global Compact and its principles part of the strategy, culture and day-to-day operations of our firm, and to engaging in collaborative projects which advance the broader development goals of the United Nations, particularly the Sustainable Development Goals.
Upholding the Ethics of the Legal Profession
Our lawyers adhere to the ethical standards of the legal profession without compromise. We are committed to working with transparency and independence in order to fulfill the role that has been bestowed upon us by the laws of our profession and by the Regulations of the Beirut Bar Association. We have an ethical duty to establish a client-lawyer relationship built on honesty, trust and respect. We only act in the best interests of our clients while keeping them informed about all matters related to their case and protecting the privacy of their information.
Our ethical commitment extends to our colleagues. At Hage-Chahine Law Firm, we believe that the relationship between our fellow lawyers should be based on mutual respect and cooperation in finding a suitable resolution to all conflicts.
Protecting the privacy of our clients is one of our top priorities. We have taken the necessary measures to comply with the new rules on Data Protection that have been implemented by national laws and regional regulations.
Our firm has the technological resources and our attorneys have the technical skills required to secure privacy in today’s online environment. We also assist our clients with protecting the privacy of their employees and their customers by relying on extensive experience to offer practical solutions that are tailored to current regulatory standards.
As a signatory of the Ten Principles of the United Nations Global Compact, we are committed to actively promoting diversity. Our commitment to diversity pervades all aspects of our practice. The firm provides an environment which allows everyone to develop and grow regardless of age, sex, sexual orientation, disability, gender reassignment, marriage or civil partnership, maternity or pregnancy, race, religion or belief.
We aim to create an environment which focuses on the talent and the potential of each and every one of our people and have taken measures to eliminate discrimination from our recruitment process. We also encourage diversity in legal education. Our lawyers have attended school in Lebanon, France and the United States, and they are fluent in Arabic, French and English.
We are committed to ensuring a sustainable and healthy working environment. We have taken steps that make the most efficient use of the resources that are used on a daily basis. We have recently started moving towards being a paperless law firm and have implemented measures to reduce waste. Our firm has invested in equipment that reduces energy consumption and we aim to improve recycling each year in order to limit paper consumption.
Accessibility & Intelligibility of the Rule Of Law
Our firm is committed to promoting accessibility and intelligibility of the rule law across the Middle East. Our aim is to help raise awareness of regional reforms and practices in order to help increase transparency and legibility.
